Environmental Engineering
Shreya is a first-year PhD student in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Duke University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from University at Buffalo, where she explored the use of magnetic induction for underwater localization. After graduation, she worked as an engineer at Verizon, expanding the company's Ultra-Long-Haul (ULH) and Optical Transport Network (OTN) mesh systems across the southeastern United States. She later completed her Master’s in Sustainable Systems from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she pursued research on an NSF-funded project investigating the environmental impacts of software systems.
Shreya is passionate about systems-level approaches to sustainability, integrating engineering and life cycle thinking to better understand and address complex environmental challenges. Outside of research, she enjoys exploring national parks, playing board games, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
